MVP

Patrick Willis- Patrick Willis

This young rookie was given the opportunity of a lifetime and he ran with it- lighting up for a total of nine tackles last night. It is scary thinking that he could be the next great Lawrence Taylor; it just feels that he will achieve greatness. I was skeptical of the decision to start a rookie but Patrick has really proved that he deserved to start, I hope that this good play lasts all season long. He will figure to be a key defensive threat to many of the potent offenses that we will face this year.

LVP

Alex Smith- Alex Smith

There were some highlights of his good play last night but he didn’t seem to lead the offense to a bone-crushing win. With the potential to score many points, it is sad that they only scored 20 with 0 TDs for Alex Smith. He completed less than half of his passes and he just didn’t seem like a Joe Montana-type QB to lead this fresh team through the years. He does well on the ground but when he has to throw the ball long, he comes severely short and that’s what he needs to practice, throwing the long ball. Hopefully he’ll get it together next week in a potential shootout with St. Louis.
